A few minutes before 11 AM, Friday morning, the driver of this loaded 18 wheeler box truck veered too far towards the shoulder on Wilson Mill Road, near its intersection with Highway 425 south.

DCSO, MPD, and big Wrecker responded to clear the roadway. The driver was taken to Baptist-Drew.

The University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) will hold its spring commencement exercises on Friday, May 10, in the Steelman Field House. Commencement will be split into two ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Doors will open at 9 a.m. for the 10 a.m. ceremony and 1 p.m. for the 2 p.m. ceremony. The City of Monticello received notification that it has been released from a longstanding consent administrative order, or CAO, from the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality after being under the order since 2016. (more…)

At 2:30, Sunday morning, Monticello dispatch received a call about an 18 wheeler on fire south of Shady Grove on Highway 425 South.

When Monticello firefighters and DCSO arrived, the fire was contained to the right rear trailer’s brake and tire area, which was quickly extinguished, safely.
