Winners at the Town and Gown Duplicate Bridge Club on Monday, March 30 were:

1st place Maedene Weser and Luellen Jones
2nd place Charlotte McKiever and Kaye Koen
3rd place Joann Hawley and Lowell Lynde
4th place Charles Dolberry and Gene Gulledge

The Club was happy to welcome new player Paula Furlough to Monday night’s game. Club members Margaret Norton, Peggy Chapman, and Lowell Lynde participated in the Hot Springs Village sectional tournament during the weekend of March 27-29. Playing with Bodie Cobb of Keo and Marilyn Watt and Skip Henry both of Pine Bluff, Lynde and his teammates placed first in the A/X swiss team event.

A public meeting was held at the Courthouse, Monday night, where a group of approximately 20 local residents were asked what Drew County needed for the future. The overwhelming answer was jobs.

According to the Lake Village police chief, 4 juveniles were involved in a shooting incident, just before midnight on March 23.

3 juveniles were arrested, and the victim was airlifted to Pine Bluff.

A public hearing will be held on March 30, 2015 at 6:00 pm at the Drew County Courthouse Courtroom for the purpose of identifying and prioritizing the community needs of Drew County, determining whether an application for Arkansas Community and Economic Development Program (ACEDP) funds should be developed and if so, for what community need.

The Monticello school board held a special called meeting, Thursday evening, where the district’s new school superintendent was announced. (more…)

Caleb Lamb is a first year student at the Ramp School of Ministry in Hamilton, Alabama owned and operated by Karen Wheaton.

Caleb was recently asked to join the Brownsville Assembly of God Praise Team to sing on their upcoming live recording, that will be released later this year.

Caleb is the son of James and Karen Hall and the late David Lamb of Monticello.

The Monticello School Board solved the issue of making up 5 days of missed school due to ice and snow, at their meeting Tuesday night.

On March 9, Drew County Dispatch received a call from a male subject stating that a 33 year old  Drew County man had placed a gun to a womans head at his fathers residence on Bowser Road.
