The Drew Memorial Hospital Board recognized a resigning board member and honored the June Health Hero June 23. As well, the board discussed continuing updates and improvements in building modernization, services and staff recruitment despite a financially slow month.
Hospital CEO Michael Layfield recognized Gary Shrum for his service to the board and presented him with a plaque. Around 7:30 this morning an empty log truck was attempting to turn right from HwWY 425 south of Lacey onto Valley Junction Road.
It appears that as the Mack log truck was preparing to turn, the Ford panel van, shown here, attempted to go to the right of the log truck, and was caught between the stake supports of the larger vehicle’s trailer.
The log truck did have it’s turn signal on, and the van driver seems to have been at fault.
The log truck is displayed as being from Wilmar, and the van driver is from Rison.
The driver of the van, as well as a passenger, were taken to Drew Memorial by SEEMS for treatment.
Arkansas State Trooper Morris Knight investigated the accident, while Drew County Deputies assisted, since the wreck was near a curve, and the highway was partially blocked.
J.A. Goad towed the van.
