June 9th, 2009 by

According to Lt. Jason Akers of the Tenth Drug Task Force, former area physician,Shirlene Hill, age 51 of Lake Village, was arrested on a warrant Friday by DTF agents at her home in Lake Village.

According to Akers, the arrest warrant stemmed from a search of Hill’s Lake Village residence after her arrest in 2008.

Hill’s Friday arrest was for the possession of Schedule II, III and IV prescription narcotics that were located during the search of her residence. She was booked into the Lake Village City Jail and released on her current bond.

Southeast Arkansas Doctor Arrested on Drug Charges

According to Lt. Jason Akers of the Tenth Drug Task Force, Task Force Agents, along with Chicot County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Dr. Shirlene Hill, age 51, at her Lake Village residence on Friday.

Hill was arrested on charges of prescription fraud and introducing a controlled subtance into the body of another, both felony charges, as well as practicing medicine without a license, a misdemeanor.

Akers said the investigation began on August 27, 2008 when information was received that Hill’s Lake Village medical clinic was still open, after the Arkansas Medical Board’s suspension of her practice, which was served on August 25, 2008.

Task Force Agents, as well as Chicot County Sheriffs Office Personnel and Lake Village investigated the office operating, and subsequently arrested a staff member on August 27th. The staff member was in possession of over $2,000.00 in cash, numerous signed photocopied prescriptions, and various prescription narcotics.

Akers said while the Task Force investigated the incident, agents were assisted by the Monticello, McGehee and Lake Village Police Departments, and the Ashley County Sheriff’s Department, with these and many other agencies throughout the state providing information or other support in the case.

Hill was arrested without incident and taken for a first appearance before Judge Teresa French in McGehee, where Hill voluntarily signed a waiver of extradition and agreed to random drug testing.

She was later released on her own recognizance.

    IT’S ABOUT TIME!!

  2. concerned citizen says:

I think that it is very sad that these people are aloud to obtain a medical degree. This is a part of what is wrong with the world today.

  3. Proud Billie Mom says:

Way to go Jason!!! Keep getting those bad guys… or girls!!!

  4. sue says:

Wow not even a bond just let her out? I could never be a DTF all their work and danger and the judge let’s her out,I would be pissed. Why not jail? At least a high dollar bond.THANK YOU for doing your job.I just do not understand.

  5. unknown says:

Finally someone has put a stop to her. Jason I hope you contuniue your work to stop these pill prescribing doctors . Lots of lives have been destroyed from the use of prescription drugs, starting with the person whos using drugs to the familys that have to suffer the consequences of their loved one being an addict. I hope and pray eventually the drs who are writing the scripts come to there senses.

  6. pipeliner says:

i no a lot of people that are heart broken about dr. hill now they will have to go to the streets and get there dope

  7. William says:

WHat do people do tHat acctually used Her to get tHeir medicine SucH as Blood Pressure?? SHe was acctually my One and only doctor, now Having a Hard time finding anotHer.

  8. Confused at comment says:

Well William if you were using her for a Dr. for blood pressure medicine I promise you will have no problem finding a good Dr that will be there to take care of all your needs. Those that used her for “drugs” are the ones that will have a problem finding a new dealer. Dr’s are not hard to find look in the phone book, online, talk to friends there is a lot of good honest physicians out there so you will find one but those looking for dealers are just a bit harder to locate and not as easy to get what they want until they get to know them then it will be not problem they can place and order just like before UNTIL the Drug Task force and or local law enforcment figures out who the dealer is then they will have to get another dealer but you will be able to keep your Dr as long as they are a true/honest Dr. I personally dont want a drug dealer taking care of my family, friends and loved ones, Good job Jason and the Drug Task Force keep up the good work.

  9. Local says:

    Some people never learn!

  10. joseph cortez says:

good job jason. i know for a fact she’s been doing it for well over 12 years.

  11. k.c. says:

No one was using her as a real doctor. She was never even there, people would come in, pay their money, wait 5 hours and then her daughter would call you back to a room, ask you what you wanted then she would drive all of the files out to her mom’s house and dr. hill would write the prescriptions, there are ALOT of pharmacy’s near that area who woud not fill prescriptions from her. I went with a friend’s cousin once because my friend told me she didnt want to go alone, I was SHOCKED!! at what went on there and every single person in the waiting room would talk about the pills the dr. would give them. I am SO glad she has gotten arrested, Before she got arrested the first time the doctor said your first visit would be $500 and there were actually people who paid it, that happened the one time I was there, it is disqusting, dangerous, and I hope that ALL of the parties involed will face charges. That staff put ALOT of people in danger!!!

  12. sue says:

LOOK……..she got out again…What is up with that? The judge didn’t make her bond out the first time just out on her name? 2nd time let her go again??? unreal.Good job DTF!!!!

  13. Lake Village says:

Ever stopped to think that this is a trend that was started by the dr that had the practice before her? These people are so messed up they will do anything to get what they want. you people don’t even know what the REAL story is, JUDGEMENT look it up in the Bible!

  14. DUB says:

So just because the Dr. that was there first was doing it that is supposed to make it alright for her to do it too? Your right, people who are addicted will do just about anything to get drugs and if she is a supplier, she is no better than they are.

Lake Village is right, there a alot of people who dont know the whole story, but there are some who know the whole story, thats why she was arrested. God is the ultimate Judge, but there are those appointed on earth to judge that are regconized by God.

  15. Unbelievable says:

It is truly unbelievable how people are so harsh. Has anyone stopped to think that Dr. Hill also has a family and children that love her no matter what. Yes what she has done is wrong but if it weren’t for all the druggies out there she wouldn’t have been able to continue doing it. Instead of bashing her we should all be praying for her to get the help she needs and her family. In L.A. people have ALWAYS swept around other people’s door before they swept around there own. That is why I’m glad I no longer live in this area!!

  16. DUB says:

The truth can be harsh sometimes. What about the families of the “druggies” who she supplied and the people and families of the “druggies” who are affected. What if it was your family that had to meet them driving down the road under the influence, but wait, you dont live here anymore!

Blaming the people who were buying from here for her doing it is like blaming you because you spend your hard earned money to have nice things in your home and someone breaks in and steals it, maybe to sell to buy drugs. Who’s fault is it, yours for having it available in your home or the person who breaks in and steals it?

  17. Carolyn says:

What’s so sad about this is that she’s an easy target for the big drug task force, since she’s been arrested before for some of the same charges…Another easy star for them!!!!!!! True enough she is in the wrong.. There’s alot more on the streets they need to target…..

  18. k.c says:

Yeah Lake Village is right about one thing, alot of people don’t know what actually went on in that office but alot of people do. I’m not going to get into all of that but to defend a doctor who has repeatedly given drugs to so many people over and over and over, I know of some 17 year olds who she’s given narcodics to. This is unacceptable, she didnt learn her lesson years ago, there are no 3rd chances. Praying for her to get help is wonderful. but SHAME on the people who are behind her and defending her for something so terrible, people could have died! If you’ve never been to her office and have never seen first hand what went on you can’t say what she did isnt that bad. Yes we all know she has a family and kids that care about her, that doesnt mean she should be free to do it again. and the person who said if it werent for the druggies she wouldnt have gotten to do it this long? Which came first the chicken or the egg? If it werent for her there wouldnt be as many druggies…. It’s not like she gave a few people prescriptions that she shouldnt have,.. she was given about 30 people a day at leaste 5 different drugs a peice, and most of those people were taking them and selling them to teenagers… so shame on you if you can defend this woman.,

  19. Brandy says:

What kind of sense does it make for someone to spend thousands of dollars and years of time in medical school, only to throw it all away like this? It’s truly sad to see people (the doctor herself as well as the people that she was dealing to) throw their lives away all in the name of drugs.
    What ever happened to ETHICS?!

  20. DUB says:

Did she really SAY “Shame on the Drug Task Force?” You have got to be kidding me! Shame on you big bad men at the Drug Task Force for picking on this Dr. for selling drugs after you already arrested her for it before…… I wonder, is she a supplier, buyer or just someone who doesnt have a clue. Great job DTF!

  21. Lisa says:

Its easy to throw all that schooling away .Just like all druggies do . They throw everything away but the drugs. Thats why she was the drug doc. SHE IS ONE HERSELF.

  22. Unbelievable says:

I’m not defending her at all. I’m just saying that we should have a little compassion for her FAMILY! One thing for sure….she’s not the ONLY one in that area selling drugs. She and everyone else should pay the price. Maybe she should turn around and give the names to the police that turned around and would sell them on the street…… But oh wait….the ones selling on the street usually are paying off the police and never get arrested! To make it clear….in NO WAY am I saying what she did was ok or that she should not be punished. I’m saying please don’t hurt her family by being vicious. She’s not the only dr. in that area who’s done this…..she’s just the one who got caught. I think the narcotics boards need to tighten up on all drs!!

  23. joseph cortez says:

UNBELIEVABLE the bad thing about having compassion for her family is part of them was working in office with her and knew what she was doing.

  24. DUB says:

Street level dealers are paying off the police? Why dont you go ahead and tell everyone about the Columbian drug cartell that drops off a suit case full of money at the police department once a month while your telling lies.

To Unbelievable(which is an appropriate name by the way):It never ceases to amaze me the lies people tell in order to make themselves seem more important than they are. I love the way we can all express our OPINIONS on this web sight, but you might want to check you FACTS before you start telling those type of lies.

  25. Susan Hollinger says:

Yeap you can tell the Police are in on this, helping sell drugs. Just look at the nice new rides they have and the big fancy houses they live in. Their wives are dripping in diamonds and wear fancy designer clothes and traveling the country on vacations. Get Real !!!

  26. sue says:

Don’t talk about people unless you can back it up to their face.I learned that from my Grandmother when I was young.

  27. honest says:

Well, well, well!!! We have some upset people here don’t we? Carolyn, the streets have been targeted for years now, they are just starting to get the “non street” dealers, this type of stuff has been going on for years and they burst this one Dr. and now you want to talk of MPD. Well I am going to say Good job DTF and all agencies involved and it’s about time you put some of your focus on the big whigs. I read the articles and comments when someone is busted for crack/cocaine and the boards is filled with “good job”, get the of the streets” etc. So don’t stop now continue to commend them for their efforts to “clean our town”.

  28. JORDAN'S MOM says:

GREAT JOB DTF! BY THE WAY, THESE GUYS ARE DOING THEIR JOBS! AS A MOTHER, I AM THANKFUL THAT THEY ARE OUT THERE EVERYDAY RISKING THEIR LIVES TAKING DRUG DEALERS OFF THE STREETS! REGARDLESS TO WHAT CLOAK OF DISGUISE THESE PEOPLE WEAR, THEY ARE STILL DRUG DEALERS ALL THE SAME!

  29. Unbelievable says:

I agree the DTF did a great job in stopping this. I just think that there are even more big issues in that area.

  30. john says:

she was a very good dr.
