Thursday’s 3rd Car Fire, Briefly Threatens Neighborhood

A car fire was reported at Rod’s Wrecker, on HWY 425 South, Thursday around 2:30, which spread to a wooded area behind the business. As the fire quickly spread, firefighters were concerned with homes in the University Heights area, as well as residents in a neighborhood north of the blaze.
The fire started in a Hyundai Sonata, that drove into the wrecker yard 20 minutes before the fire. Monticello Fire Dept, Arkansas Forestry Commission, MPD, and DCSO responded.
Thursday morning, a car fire was reported in Wilmar at J-Birds. Earlier that afternoon, a car fire was called in from Hunter’s Spee-D Lube.
