Drew County Deputies and Monticello Fire Dept. firefighters were called to this rubbish fire, Monday afternoon, when the helpful workers forgot about the burn ban, and the fire got larger than expected.
The burn ban that is in effect for Drew County HAS NOT been cancelled, due to Friday night’s rain.
Please do not burn any items, until it is cancelled by the county judge and Forestry Commission.

Sunday afternoon, KARK/KLRT’s Jocelyn Tovar inerviewed Mike Fritts, who was trapped inside of Thursday’s wildfire.
As the report states, Mike will get to meet Ms. Gail and other emergency staff members, which he credits with saving his life, today, in a meeting set up by MLive.

Around 11 am, Friday morning, the new driver of this AT&T truck lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway in Dead Man’s Curve, 2 miles east of Monticello on HWY 278 East.
Neither the driver, nor his trainer, was injured.
Drew County Sheriff’s deputies worked the crash scene. Reliable Towing was called to remove the vehicle.
Thursday’s wreck in the same curve wasn’t as easy to remove.
Highway 278 at Dead Man’s Curve was closed due to multiple traffic accidents, Thursday afternoon.
Amy Lloyd was the $25 money winner, Wednesday night at the fair.
Lettie Washington won the $25 Drawing, Tuesday night at the Drew County Fair.

The CASA10 program, a non-profit organization, is seeking an Executive Director. At Mondaay night’s City Parks Committee, the committeee voted to rent out the new Sadie Johnson Community Center only as a whole building rental, not as individual rooms.
Saturday night, the annual Drew County Fair “Miss Drew County” pageant was held at the fairgrounds, with Anna Norris was honored as this year’s Miss Drew County. Anna also won the interview competition.
