Recently law enforcement officers from around the state took part in the Special Olympics “Torch Run”.
Locally, the Drew County Sheriffs Department received the torch near the Ashley County line, from ACSO deputies; then ran it to Monticello (literally), where it was handed off to the Monticello Police, who ran it through their portion of the event, where the torch was taken to the next county.
Officers also carried the torch by Advantages, in support of many of our local athletes in the event.
