The Desha/Drew County Cattlemen’s Association met on Thursday April 16th at the UAM Agriculture Building at 5:30 pm. Producers were able to view the cattle that were in this year’s UAM Aggie Comeback Sale. The sale would feature 19 lots including 4 Beefmaster bulls and 15 beefmaster influenced heifers. President Jason Cater opened the meeting at 7:00 pm and asked Mr. Greg Montgomery to bless the meal. The delicious fried chicken supper was sponsored by AgUp Equipment. Desserts were provided by the membership.
Following supper Mr. Greg Montgomery, the UAM farm manager, spoke with members about the Aggie
Comeback Sale. His goal is to have an enjoyable production type sale with a Friday evening event with a supper and Saturday morning sale and lunch. Mr. Montgomery also went on to talk about the enjoyment he gets from his job and opportunities at UAM. Additionally he thanked the association for their support. The annual Desha/Drew County Cattlemen’s Association Scholarship cake auction was also held that night. Members provided many good looking desserts to be auctioned off. The auction was very successful and we would like to thank everyone who provided a dessert and those who purchased one. Those scholarships are a great help to students. The meeting was adjourned following the auction.
