Local Man Facing Aggravated & Sexual Assault Charges

A 22 year old Drew County man is facing charges of aggravated assault and sexual assault (2nd degree) for acts that allegedly took place in late June, and twice before.
According to police records, Robert Anthony Rush, of the Wilmar area, assaulted a female by pushing her down with his shoulder and attempting to remove her pants. The victim told Drew County Sheriff investigators that it happened at Rush’s home. She added that she was able to fight him and fled the scene.
The victim reported to deputies that she went back to the residence, a few days later, to help take care of a kitten, and this time Rush came at her with a pair of scissors, again trying to pull her shorts down. Again she fought him off and left.
The victim, who lives in the same area as Rush, also described a third occurrence, similar in nature.
Since then, Rush was interviewed by the Sheriffs Department, and admitted to a large portion of the events described by the victim.
Rush is currently incarcerated, while facing probable felony charges for the allegations in Drew County Circuit Court.
