Closing Arguments & Jury Deliberations Begin

The defense stated that defendant Lavar Thompson would not testify, and rested their case.
Jury instructions, lunch recess, and closing arguments followed, with the defense emphasizing Thompson’s friendship with the victims and the character of witnesses from the events of that January 2016 morning.
Before ending, the attorney tried to convince the jurors the the 2 deaths were mot pre-meditated, but that Thompson more deserving of 2nd degree murder for “carrying around a loaded weapon” “as intoxicated as he was.”
Prosecutor Spain reminded them that being intoxicated is not a defense for committing a crime.
The jury went into deliberations at 1:45
