Drew County 4-H has started a teen leader club for ages 13 through 19. This club teaches leadership, communication, and public speaking skills which will last a lifetime. Students will have the opportunity to take part in events and competitions on the local, state, and national levels which allow them to meet other youth and make lasting friendships. For more information about the Drew County Teen Leader Club or 4-H in general contact the Drew County 4-H Program Assistant, Lynn Lanthrip at 870-377-7709.

Our club is currently doing a series of videos displaying science projects, art ideas, and various life hacks staring members of the club. This week’s video features club President Bentley S. Bentley is 14 and also a member of Horse Club and a member of Drew County WHEP Team. He will be demonstrating an easy way portable way to fill a water balloon.

Terry Crook (left) receives a plaque and 20 year service pin from Order of the Arrow Lodge Chief Noah Minchew (right). Mr. Crook recently marked his 20^th consecutive year volunteering as the Scoutmaster for Monticello Boy Scout Troop 67.

All the scouts and parents of Troop 67 – both past and present – want to say a very special “THANK YOU” to Mr. Crook for his steadfast and unselfish service to our community.

Boy Scout Troop 67 is chartered by the First United Methodist Church of Monticello.

Sylvia Simon attended the Monticello Rotary club meeting, Thursday, and received a donation check from the group in support of Imagination Library in the Monticello area.

Boy Scouts troop 67 attended Monday night’s Drew County quorum court meeting, to see how local government works. After the meeting, the Boy Scouts met and had photos made with the JP’s.

Drew Central High School senior Evan Arrington was awarded the Monticello Rotary Club Board Achievement Scholarship, in honor of Clifton and Marjorie Bond.

The $1,000 scholarship is for the freshman year at the University of Arkansas at Monticello in the year 2018/2019.

It is awarded based on achievement during student’s high school career, both academically and volunteerism.

Winners at the Town & Gown Duplicate Bridge Club on Monday, May 7, 2018 were:

Monticello Lion’s Club members David Anderson, Harold Mitchell, and Nancy Miller came to Discovery Children’s Center on March 26, 2018, to perform free vision screenings on the children who will be enrolled in Kindergarten in the fall.

Monticello Lions Club recently completed the 2017 Vision Screening of Monticello Pre-K students.
Monticello Lions Club utilizes the ‘SPOT’ camera which provides an extremely accurate analysis of eye health for the children and their families.
