It has been just over three months since the body of Marquis Martin, who disappeared on February 9, was discovered north of Wilmar on March 7.

Marquis was a 26-year-old Drew Central  Elementary School employee, who also worked at McDonald’s.

Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober has occasionally issued a statement about the ongoing investigation, which hasn’t developed any substantial leads, at this point.

MLive spoke with Sheriff Gober earlier this week, where he stated interviews were still taking place, but nothing newsworthy has come up.

Thirty-three Arkansas State Police Trooper Recruits received their certified law enforcement certificates tonight during a graduation ceremony at the Arkansas State Capitol. The new troopers will report to their Highway Patrol Division assignments across the state next month.

Due to a water leak, Monticello water customers are currently experiencing an outage on Willis and East Bolling Sts.

Tuesday nights events in Monticello focused on improving good relations, communicating and working together through issues, before situations become worse.

Several local pastors, the mayor, police chief, and several others addressed the crowd of up to 200 people, including several prayers.

At last month’s City Council meeting, the most discussed topic was the proposed burning ordinance, specifically of leaves and debris.

Issues discussed included how permits must be
obtained from the fire department before any burning can take place.
