Monticello’s new mayor, Paige Chase, was sworn in Tuesday, and took office, at start of business, this morning.

City Hall will be Closed Tuesday.

Tuesday’s trash route will be run on Wednesday, January 2.

More discussion is planned for next months meeting, specifically own flea market set up selling animals.

The need to have some type of control over cats was also brought up.

Eric Chisom was appointed ad Fire Chief at last Monday’s City Council meeting.

The monthly city Council meeting has been rescheduled, to tonight, to avoid schedule conflicts with tomorrow nights Christmas parade.

The City of Monticello is currently taking applications for a full-time Engineer.

Applicant must possess an Arkansas driver’s license, a plumbing inspector license, a Waste Water Treatment Operator License Class 3 with an emphasis in Industrial, Distribution and Treatment Water Operator Licensing Class 4, a minimum of a high school diploma and have the ability to adapt to various environmental conditions.

Please refrain from overfilling the dumpsters. One “dumpster story” per  year is enough.

It’s usually not a good thing when dumpsters make it into the news, but we want to recognize the fact that the City of Monticello provides extra dumpsters at City Park, between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, as a courtesy to residents.
