At last month’s City Council meeting, the most discussed topic was the proposed burning ordinance, specifically of leaves and debris.
Issues discussed included how permits must be
obtained from the fire department before any burning can take place.
The photo was taken Thursday morning, as a man was apparently burning down what was left of a former residence.

As local residents clear out storm damage and debris, the City of Monticello has announced that trees and limbs may be disposed of at the Transfer Station on Old Warren Road.
Judge Robert Akin has declared Drew County as a disaster area, due to the storms, and will be acccepting vegetative debris, starting Monday, at the Drew County Fairgrounds.
Both of these locations are for trees, limbs, bushes, and other naturally growing storm debris.
Building materials or structural debris cannot be accepted at either of them.

At last night’s city Council meeting, Mayor Paige Chase announced upcoming schedule changes for city employees, effecting hours of city services.
Public works employees will be divided into two separate shifts, decreasing the exposure of some employees to other employees, due to potential exposure from the public of CV 19.
City Hall employees will also be working different shifts. Please remember city hall is close to public traffic. Water bills can be paid at the dropbox on the corner and other business can be taken care of on the phone.

Thank You, City & County!!
In November, we posted the video (shown below) showing the poor condition of Ross Drive, where every inpatient transfer at the hospital road over in an ambulance.
The city and county agreed to split the repair cost, and last week Ross Drive was overlaid.
Thanks for working together to solve the problem!
