You can help bring this Good News to a child by filling a shoebox with gifts. Determine whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl, and the child’s age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14 and mark the label. Next, fill your box with new items such as:

SCHOOL SUPPLIES: Pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.

TOYS: Small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small Etch A Sketch, ® toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries), Slinky, ® etc.

See You At The Pole is a nation-wide event invites students to gather around their school flagpole to pray for one another, their school, its staff, the community, and the nation.

Local veterans, representing VFW, DAV, and the American Legion, presented Morning Star MB Church with a flag and flagpole, during a ceremony, Sunday afternoon.

The flagpole was provided by Woodmen of the World.  The installation of the flagpole, along with costs included, were covered by the veterans.

Holmes Chapel Presbyterian Church hosted an appreciation meal for fire, police and EMS/ first responders, Saturday.

Rev. Alford Branch thanked all of the dedicated first responders for their service, when he blessed the food.

One of the Officers was heard saying, “It was the best food I’ve eaten in a long time.”

Northside Baptist is located 3 blocks east of the Baptist Children’s Home.

MPD is asking for your help in identifying this suspect. He is believed to be involved in the recent theft of a church van, vandalism, and a residential burglary that occurred in late December. Contact MPD at 367-3411.

The annual Drew County Fair gospel music night will be held Wednesday, September 19 at 6:30 pm.

Gospel singers, musicians, praise dancers are invited to take part.

Choir, solo, duet, quartet and all genres of Gospel are welcome.

After the presentation from The Call of Drew County, the Rotary club presented their organization with a check for $750, to help support their projects.

There will be a National Day of Prayer service Thursday at the Drew County Court House steps. In case of rain, the service will be in the court room. Everyone is invited to attend. Presented by the Drew County Miniserial Association.
