Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W) has announced that it has signed an agreement with Pinsly Railroad Company of Westfield, Mass., to acquire certain rail service subsidiaries that constitute Pinsly’s Arkansas Division, including the local Arkansas Midland Railroad, that serves Monticello and Warren.

Local folks have been watching the construction of Family Dollar, a nationwide retail chain, and the ongoing construction of their new facility, near the 425/278 intersection, for several month.

One of this week’s projects is caulking between the concrete parking lot sections.

The latest estimate is that new store will be open for business around the first of 2015.
