Southeast Arkansas Community Action Corporation Governing Board of Directors will meet in a Special Call Board Meeting Tuesday, October 30, 2018. The meeting will begin at 5:00 p.m. and will be held at the SEACAC Complex located at 1208 North Myrtle Street in Warren, AR. The meeting is open to the public. SEACAC serves Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, Desha and Drew Counties in Southeast Arkansas.

Southeast Arkansas Community Action Corporation will conduct a community meeting to elect a board member for the Ashley – County Low -Income Sector of SEACAC board of directors. Saturday around 10:30 am near the Jackson & Shelton Street intersection, there was a thanks playpen filled with women’s clothes, shoes and my grandson’s baby quilt.
It was set outside for a relative to pick up, but it seems someone thought it was discarded. Whoever picked it up, is asked to return it, especially the blanket, because of its sentimental value.

The Arkansas Cancer Coalition (ACC) is excited to award Mainline Health Systems, Inc. with a grant in the amount of $53,951.76 to implement cancer control efforts that support the Arkansas Cancer Plan. This funding source will help to research the latest cervical cancer information, educate staff and patients on that information, and promote cervical cancer awareness. (more…)

Cornerstone Christion Academy would like to congratulate Dr. John Austin Beatty on his recent accomplishment. Austin is a co-valedictorian graduate of the 2010 class of C.C.A. He is the son of Misty (C.C.A. teacher) and John W. Beatty (Drew County Sheriff’s Dept.) of Collins.
Austin is a 2014 graduate of UAM in Monticello with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Biochemistry. He is also a 2018 graduate of UAMS in Little Rock where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. Dr. Beatty will begin his internship in Tulsa, Oklahoma this summer with In His Image Family Medicine Residency Program. CongratulationsAustin!!!

The 2018 Scholarship Recipients: (R-L) BreAuna Bailey-Warren High School, Zadrian Goodwin- Monticello High School, Mikayla McGregor-Monticello High School and Emberley Riley-Monticello High School.
NAACP local Branch #6042 hosted a Baccalaureate Ceremony on May 20, 2018 to present its local scholarships. Scholarship Chair, Sheena Garrard, reported “It was our goal to provide a scholarship opportunity for 2018 Seniors who attend Dermott, Drew Central, Monticello, and Warren High Schools. The purpose of the scholarship was to encourage student participation in a post-secondary program of study and to relieve a portion of the financial burden. We would also like to thank the NAACP members and community leaders for their generous donations towards this scholarship. (more…)

The Editorial Board of Forestry, an international journal of forest research recently awarded Don Bragg, Research Forester, USDA Forest Service, the “2017 Percy Stubbs, John Bolton King and Edward Garfitt Prize for Silviculture” for advancing silviculture research.
