The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) is finalizing a process to develop a statewide Reservoir Black Bass Management Plan. This plan provides broad guidance on policies addressing the complex management challenges and issues related to producing desirable fishing experiences for black bass in Arkansas’s lakes and reservoirs. The plan results from a collaboration between the AGFC and a Stakeholder Advisory Committee (citizen volunteers representing a cross-section of black bass fishing interests). It includes management goals that reflect stakeholder values, specific objectives designed to attain each goal, and potential general strategies for achieving objectives. The plan provides broad guidance for the AGFC Commissioners and AGFC staff for managing black bass in Arkansas’s lakes and reservoirs. (more…)

Due to a scheduling conflict, where Our Festival organizers thought they had the street between Hyatt Field and the city pool reserved, but that spot was needed for Thursday night’s junior high football game, prevented the scheduled carnival from setting up Thursday.

State inspectors required Thursday set up, in order for the carnival to pass state safety inspections Friday, preventing the carnival from taking part of the festival, this weekend.

This only affects the carnival, all other festival activities are scheduled to continue

The Arkansas Cancer Coalition has awarded Mainline Health Systems, Inc. (MHSI) a $55,000 grant that will be used to reach patients around Southeast Arkansas, to remind them that it’s time for critical screenings that can lead to early detection and more successful treatment of some types of cancers.
