Boys & Girls Club Finds Temporary Home at American Legion Building

After several months of having their future unknown, the Monticello Boys and Girls Club has at least found a temporary home at the American Legion building, located near the VFW and senior citizen center, on Briarcliff Street.

Their former location, the old City Park school, had to be closed by the Monticello school district, due to roof and other issues, that were too expensive to repair.

The search for a permanent location is still underway, but at least the many services that the Boys and Girls Club provides, especially with school starting next week, has a place that meets their needs, when students return.

LIHEAP Application Opens For Summer Utilities Bill Help

Entergy Arkansas customers who need help paying their summer utility bills can apply now for up to $475 through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The program’s application period runs today through Sept. 30, officials said, or until funds are expended. (more…)

Not Forgotten is our first album that we wrote all the songs on. We are so thankful and blessed to write songs about faith, family and love. I wrote songs about how Jesus saved me, love songs to my wife, a song about my mom and songs to help those who are in chains, addictions and racism.

On July 24, 2023, the book “Monticello,” by Mark and Rebecca Spencer, will be released by Arcadia Publishing as part of their Past and Present Series. Mark Spencer is associate vice chancellor for Program Development, Assessment and Distance Learning at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) and an award-winning author. He co-authored “Monticello” with his wife, award-winning photographer Rebecca Spencer, who took the contemporary photos for the book. (more…)
