Rescue Team Responds to Early AM Wreck

At 1:45, Thursday, the Monticello Fire & Rescue Team was paged out to the report of a Ford pick-up that missed the HWY 278 curve at the east entrance to Wilmar, and crashed into a nearby wooded area.

Drew County Sheriff’s Deputies worked the accident, where a 31 year old Bryant resident was transported to JRMC by SEEMS. Dan’s Towing removed the vehicle.

DCSO Reports Shooting Arrest

DCSO LOGOOn December 2, 2013, a 20 year old Warren resident came to the Drew County Sheriff’s Office, spoke to Sheriff Mark Gober and reported that the night before at a location on the Old Warren Rd. he had been shot at multiple times.

Masked Burglar Vandalizes Public Defender’s Office, Saturday Night

racoon 012 (2)When a member of the Public Defender’s office stopped by their office, Saturday evening, to pick up a file, they found the building ramsacked, window blinds destroyed, tables turned over, and files strew all over the desks and floor.

A trail of mischief led them to a back office where the masked suspect was found sleeping in the corner of another room.

Firemen Rescue Puppy from Burning Apartment Building

024When the Monticello Fire Dept. responded to the Turtle Creek Apt. fire, Thursday morning, they had no idea that a miniture Dachshund puppy was inside of one of the two apartments.025

026The pet’s owner, Ms. Raquella, when she realized that her apartment was filling with smoke, and possibly fire, told the firefighters, who were able to enter her apt., and remove the pet-carrier that little Mylia was waiting in.

Saturday, around noon, the driver of this Chevy van was reported to be traveling north on HWY 425, attempting to turn west, when she collided with the passenger side of a Chrysler 300, which was passing her.

Drew County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the wreck, along with a local Constable.  The State Police filed the accident report.

One passenger from the Chrysler was reportedly transferred to a Little Rock Hospital.

Wednesday, at approximately 8 am, the driver of this Chevy pick-up lost control, near Sixteen Section Road on HWY 35 East of Monticello.

This Honda Accord received only minor damage, Wednesday around 5 pm, when it’s driver lost control on the wet pavement in Dead Man’s Curve.

Drew County Sheriff’s  Deputies worked both of these Wednesday accidents.

Local Singer-Songwriter Seeks to “Amplify” Her Music

jessica faithJessica Wishard, a 2013 graduate of Drew Central High School, is pursuing her musical ambitions at the Delta Music Institute (DMI) of Delta State University in Cleveland, MS.

She recorded her first EP, “Wallflower” at the DMI this past spring under the stage name of Jessica Faith and, since beginning her freshman year at Delta State, has already received quite a bit of attention and recognition. As a Music Industry Studies major, she is an active member of GRAMMY U, an organization created by The Recording Academy for college students across the nation who are interested in a music industry career. Through her membership in GRAMMY U, Faith learned about and entered one of her original songs in “GRAMMY Amplifier,” a contest hosted by The Recording Academy as a way to help undiscovered musicians by giving their entry more exposure.

UA ASU LSUThe University of Arkansas has announced that 2014 – 2018 will only have one game played at Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium each year.

During the Frank Broyles athletic directorship, Little Rock games were reduced from three games to two.  This latest decision reduces it to only one yearly game, with no commitment to War Memorial after 2018.

After last week’s new uniforms, which are as attractive as this year’s win-loss record, alienating the rest of the state is not a good choice for recruiting, attendance, or anything else (except filling the Fayetteville Stadium).

Michigan Man Arrested for Hunting on UAM Property, given $250,000 Bond on Drug Charges from Arizona
