An incorrect letter, sent out by United Healthcare insurance company was received by Dr. Tim Simon’s patients, Wednesday.

The letter states that Dr. Simon is no longer a part of Monticello Medical Center, which is not the case.

Dr. Simon told MonticelloLive, this morning, that a letter of apology is being sent by United Healthcare to everyone who received the misleading information, and calls are being made, today, to let his patients know that the letter was totally false.

At approximately 10 PM, Thursday evening, a serious two car collision occurred near Vincent Lane on Highway 425 North.

A Drew County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the report of a traffic hazard, on Highway 278, near the Tillar turn.

The boat, with a flat trailer tire, is parked close to the side of the road, so please use caution with oncoming traffic in that area. The driver is expected to return shortly.

Back by popular demand”, the Annual June Dinner Parade will be taking the parade to the community. Citizens may be in their yards along the parade route. The route will be the same as last year 2020.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a republican candidate for governor, visited Monticello, this past Thursday evening, for a fundraising event at City Park.

Sanders was the press secretary for President Donald Trump and is the daughter of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.

Melissa Light of Monticello, right, a nursing student at the South Arkansas Community College campus in Warren, is the first recipient of the Karen Boykin Endowed Scholarship. Boykin, who died in 2017, was a SouthArk nursing instructor for 14 years and was instrumental in the development of the college’s nursing program in Warren. The scholarship was established through the South Arkansas Community College Foundation by her husband Buddy Boykin to commemorate her lifetime of teaching achievements in the health sciences field. The scholarship is designed to provide financial support for a student who is seeking a practical-nursing certificate at the college’s Warren location.
