Coach White’s role this past year was Junior High Head Football Coach, High School Defensive Coordinator, assistant boys basketball and assistant track. He was also teaching in our ALE program, Career Orientation, and PE/Health.

Around midnight, Thursday night, Drew County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Knight Ave. in Wilmar, in reference to an individual being struck by a vehicle driven by Shaquila Robinson of Wilmar. (more…)

Monday evening, at approximately 6 pm, after early voting at the courthouse closed, vote totals were accidentally tabulated and posted on the clubroom door, inside of the closed courthouse.

By state law, school millage stays in effect, even if the vote fails, due to the importance of education.

School superintendent Traci Streeter told us, “The main thing people need to know is we are not asking for more money. It’s is simple procedural. We are not asking for another millage increase.”

Drew County Assessor Cheri Adcock would like to remind all taxpayers who have personal and/or business property to assess it prior to May 31, 2022. A 10% late penalty will be added after that date.

Persons may assess by calling the office at 870-460-6240, or online at http://www.actdatascout.com. However, commercial assessments must be done either in person or online. They cannot be done over the phone.

If residents own their home and if it is their primary place of residence, they may qualify for a Homestead Tax Credit of up to $375. They should let the assessor’s office know if they will turn 65 by December 31, 2022, or if they have become disabled.
