A local news reporter has received several calls yesterday morning, in reference to the false rumor of their death.
At 10 pm, multiple weather sources forecast 1-3 inches of snow for Drew County, overnight.
However, even though snow was reported from all around the county, it seems only a “dusting” took place; mostly between 8:30 and 10:00 o’clock.
Drew County Department of Human Services will be under the inclement weather policy, Wednesday.
Before 11 pm,the Arkansas Forestry Commossion declared the Lacey woods fire “contained”.
Fire depts. have been released, but plows are still on site, working trouble areas.
Numerous residents asked MLive to express their appreciation to the AFC,, volunteer fire sets., and law enforcement officers for their service to Drew County, today.
Senator John Boozman toured UAM’s agriculture dept., Thursday morning, as a part of his district-wide agri tour.
Boozman and his staff, along with UAM agri-business faculty visited various sites that are a part of UAM programs.
After the tour Senator Boozman led a brief meeting with those attending, where a wide range of topics were covered, including the Farm Bill, student loans, the drought’s effect on farming, future use of natural gas, and Heirloom tomatos.
One important aspect of UAM’s agri program is that “Most of UAM’s 100 ag majors are from this area, and want to remain in this area” after they graduate.

More background is being discovered about John Michael Carty, the Armed Robbery suspect from Oklahoma, that was arrested by law enforcement officers, Tuesday, north of Monticello.
An estimated 75 acres of forest land were burned in a wild fire, Thursday afternoon.
According to MPD Chief Eddy Deaton, a woman taking a walk was mauled by a Rottweiler, Friday morning. (more…)
Earlier this afternoon, the Monticello Fire Dept. and Ark. Forestry Commission spent several hours battling a large forest fire, located near Drew 22 Lane and Old Deene Road, just off of Old Dermott Road.

The blaze origionally began near Old Troy Road.
It has been estimated that approximately 80 acres of forest was damaged by the fire, as it was fanned by winds with gusts up to around 20 mph.
4 trucks, 2 dozers, and at least 3 planes were used in the battle against the raging fire.
The Arkansas Foresty Commision remained on the scene at 5 pm, still dropping water on the “hot spots” and running plows to keep the blaze contained.
