Governor Asa Hutchinson has issued disaster declarations for twelve counties following severe storms over the weekend that caused heavy flooding and damage throughout the state. Those counties, at this time, include:


Around 6:30, Sunday evening, a funnel cloud was seen in Drew County, which destroyed a local home, near Lake Monticello.

Selma Collins Road is a good example of what may lie around the curve, on county roads
The van has been rescued, but the road is mostly under water on the south end.
After a night without hard, heavy rain, HWY 138 has been re-opened.
At 5 pm, AHTD made decision to close HWY 138, east Monticello, going toward Pine Hill and Winchester.
Travelers can take 278 to 293 North, which is still open.

Monday, Monticello Mayor Zack Tucker received a letter from Governor Hutchinson announcing Arkansas Department Parks & Tourism has awarded the city $250,000 of grant funding from the state’s Outdoor Recreation Grants Program.
Around 2:55, Friday afternoon, authorities received a phone call notifying them of a school bus wreck on Highway 165, north of Dermott.
The Monticello Rescue Team was paged to Midway Rt., at 6:30 Saturday morning, to the scene of a rollover wreck, with the driver pinned inside.

Just minutes after midnight, Friday night, the Monticello Fire Dept. was dispatched to Turtle Creek Apartments, on North Slemmons St., to an apartment fire.
This pony was found roaming near JP Price Lumber Co. off of Midway Rt. in Monticello. Call 870-723-3378 to claim.

At 8:30, Monday night, the driver of a southbound Ford Escape lost control of their vehicle on HWY 425, just north of the 35 intersection.

Monticello police are looking for a suspect, believed to be a black male wearing a mask, navy hoodie, blue jeans, and black shoes, who robbed a local convenience store, Wednesday night.

Northbound traffic on Gabbert Street should detour to Main Street, then Pope Street, to avoid a blocked roadway, at the intersection of Gabbert and Jefferson Street.
Abig rig cut short, and the road is currently blocked at that location.
The meeting of the Advantages of Southeast Arkansas, Inc. Board of Directors, which was scheduled for November 24th, has been moved to Tuesday, December 1st, at 3:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Discovery Children’s Center, located at 178 West College, Monticello, Arkansas. Due to the holidays, the meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday, December 22nd, has been cancelled.
Effective in January, meetings will go back to their normal date and time, the 4th Tuesday of each month at 3:00 p.m. at the Discovery Children’s Center building.

At 3:30 pm, Thursday, a Monticello man was killed and 2 other residents injured, in a head on collision, eas of Monticello.
According to SalineRiverChronicle, during a meeting that lasted a little over one hour, the Southeast Arkansas Intermodal Authority had a detailed discussion of how the Authority will pay off an estimated $600,000.00 to $700,000.00 loan that will be owed once all state and federal grants are expended.
