The City is currently experiencing issues with both of the dumpster garbage trucks.

We are working on getting both of the trucks fixed but we are unsure if the problem will be resolved, later today.

We appreciate your patience during this process while we manually use trucks, trailers and man power to empty dumpsters.

The Drew County Quorum Court will Meet at 10 am, in the old library, to discuss and Approve a Re-Vote on Continuation of Penny County Road Tax.

At 11 AM, it has been snowing for at least 15 minutes.

The snowflakes are large, however due to temps being above freezing, they will not likely accumulate.

At last months Ashley County Quorum Court meeting, the budget committee presented a recommendation to the JP‘s, recommending waiving any past due balance for dispatching services for the city, provided by the county.

This was done with the understanding that they will move forward with a new, legal, “agreed to by both parties” contract, in the future.

After a 7-3 vote, the question of whether or not the 2/3 quorum was achieved.

JP Taylor recently resigned from the group, and his position was declared vacant at their last meeting.

This afternoon’s 2:30 meeting should declare the vote to be a 2/3 margin or not, based on the opinion of attorney David Harrod, as to whether the current quorum court is a 10 or 11 member board.
