Last Friday, Deputy Allen Edwards conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Hwy 278 West near Wilmar, where 2 back seat passengers, Marcus Finks and Devonta Sterling both of Warren, had bench warrants from different counties.

Finks and Sterling were placed in handcuffs. Sterling had an empty handgun holster in his waist band. Sterling advised Deputy Edwards the handgun was under the seat. The driver and front passenger were asked to step out of the vehicle.

K-9 Aiko was deployed for a free air sniff of the vehicle and alerted positive to the odor of narcotics.

Trooper Tyler Grant and Deputy John Herrington assisted in a search of the vehicle. Trooper Grant discovered a plastic bag containing a crystal like substance belived to be methamphetamine in the rear seat.

Deputy Herrington discovered a marijuana pipe and 8 pills in the front seat area.

Devonta Sterling was charged with Possession of meth or cocaine, Possession of firearm by certain persons and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms. Finks was charged with Possession of meth.

Sterling appeared before Judge Crews Puryear for a first appearance and his bond was set at $15,000 commercial bond.

Finks appeared before Judge Crews Puryear for a first appearance and his bond was set at $7500.00 commercial bond.
