Around 9 PM, Thursday night, 911 dispatch received a call from a female stating that a local man had poured gas on her and threatened to set her on fire.

When Sheriff Gober and deputies arrived, the door to the house was open but no one was present.

When officers found the victim, inaide the suspect’s truck, stuck in the woods, they noticed bruising to her right eye, that she said the suspect had caused.

She told officers that Ben Loveless had choked her unconscious, poured rubbing alcohol on her, and attempted to set her on fire. She continued, that she was in the bathroom of his house, trying to protect her self from being beaten, when this occurred.

When DCSO arrived back at the house, a weapon and a phone were laying under the carport, that were not there when they first arrived.

The suspect was taken into custody, and another pistol was laying on the floor, near him.

It was discovered that a protection order had been in place, that the victim had filed against Loveless.

Ben Loveless was arrested and taken to the Drew County Detention Facility, where he was charged with domestic battery second-degree, and violation of a protection order on a second offense.

There was limited fire damage in the bathroom, specifically where the victim claims Loveless poured alcohol on her and the shower curtain, but only the shower curtain caught fire, due to her quickly escaping the room.

Loveless is being held on a $50,000 cash bond, set by Circuit Judge Robert Gibson.
