Jerald Clarke, a veteran officer with the Monticello Police Dept. has filed to run as an independant candidate for the office of Drew County Sheriff, against Sheriff Mark Gober.

Since Gober is runing for re-election as a democrat, the2 candidates won’t go before voters until November, 2016.

Tuesday night, Mayor Zack Tucker accepted a check for $1,500 of grant dollars presented to the City by local operations supervisor Juerga “Smitty” Smith on behalf CenterPoint (more…)

County sheriff Mark Gober was the first candidate to file for reelection, at noon, Monday.  Gober is seeking reelection.

Justice of the Peace for District 7, Patty Mitchell,  was next, filing to maintain her seat on the county quorum court.

County Judge Robert Akin, an Independent, wasthe only non-– Democrat to file, Monday.

Thursday, Monticello Parks Committee member & Miracle League President Karen Connelley was joined by future Miracle League players to present to the Arkansas Outdoor Recreation Grant Committee in Jacksonville, AR to request $250,000 of grant funding to help Monticello build our field of dreams.
The Miracle League Field will be first handicap accessible baseball field in Southeast Arkansas. Grant winners will be announced in December.

The Drew County Yard of the Month for September, 2015 was: Chris and Ashley Weast, at 175 McKnight Drive.

Their yard was selected as the winner by the Town and Country Garden Club.

Yard of the Month is presented by the Chamber of Commerce.
