At 11 am, Judge Sam Pope explained the definitions of 1st and 2nd degree murder, manslaughter, negligent homicide, and abuse of a corpse, before the state presented their closing argument.

The state pointed to the inconsistencies of Williams’ interviews, as well as questions about his history of seizures and 7-8 “recent injuries.”

Court took lunch recess at 12:00, and the defense will offer their closing when court resumes.

The defense called 2 witnesses and rested in the first degree murder trial of Freddie Williams, in the death of Tangela Walton in 2013.

City Attorney Whit Barton addressed the City council, Tuesday evening, about the problem of creeks flooding in Monticello.

Mr. Barton stated he was asked last week whether the City can clean out ditches on private property. He responded that the answer is no, but under the right circumstances they can. If a creek or ditch is a significant part of the City’s drainage system, then it can be cleared by the City.

Tuesday, at noon, the driver of a Chevy Avalanche had left highway 425, driving toward Walmart.
As he entered the Walmart parking lot, he collided with a Pontiac Vibe, traveling from the mall parking lot behind the convenient store.
