Wolf Creek Baptist Camp—A Drew County Tradition Continues to Reach Children

Wolf Creek Baptist Camp, which in located south of the Collins community, has had a positive effect on several generations of South Arkansas young people.
After a long day of volleyball, kickball, and waiting in line at the “snack shack”, I remember sitting in the same tabernacle back in the ’70’s, listening to speaker preaching to “kids my age”. Then everyone would gather around the campfire for “current” favorites, like Pass It On and He’s Everything To Me.
Well, Wolf Creek’s history of bringing kids out into the country, and into a spiritual week, filled with wholesome activities, as well as Bible study and worship, is still taking place, with the Delta Baptist Assocation’s Camp, which will be concluding today.Â
This year, 107 children took part in the week long camp, representing 15 different churches.
The camp pastor this year is Terry Sayers, from Kelso Baptist Church. The director, Teresa Kelley, attends Bayou Mason Church, near Lake Village. Also leading in the activities were Coy & Vivian Sample, who serve as Missionaries to Africa.
With all of the trials and temptations that our young people face everyday, it sure is good to see that God is still using camps like Wolf Creek, to give them a Godly based backgound to build upon.

Wow! This brings back alot of memories. I grew up at Norhtside Baptist and can remember going to Wolf Creek during a few summers. Also my father grew up less than a mile from the camp. Im glad to see that not much has changed, including sharing God with young people.
I started going to Wolf Creek when I was 9 years old and I continued until I was 18. I loved it so much that after I was “too” old to go, I became a counselor for children’s camp. And that was when the cabins had screen and no air conditioners!The bunk beds were iron and squeaked every time you moved in your bed. We also had ONE shower house and girls and guys had different times to shower. We would try to sneak out at night and go raid the mess hall for cookies! That camp was such an important part of my life, I am glad today’s children are still enjoying it!
I have been at Wolf Creek Camp for five years. It is awesome to see how God has blessed this place. From reading the other comments and hearing the old tales how people who are older now attended and the things they remember about camp and their expierences there is such a blessing. I would like to let everyne know that we are in need of counselors and workers and if anyone is interested please contact Wolf Creek Camp at 4383 Hwy 82 East, Lake Village, Arkansas, 71653. We want to continue improving this camp for God is at work and so many many people came to know the lord at Wolf Creek Camp.
