Oboy, oboy, oboy! Someone is going to be the proud recipient of a newly-delivered Apple iPod Mini! With a hefty 4 gigabyte hard drive, it holds 1000 songs. Starting today (originally published October 1) and going through the month of October, the comment that you make and those that you receive will place your name in a drawing to be made on October 31. Here’s what you need to do to win:

Comment on any article on MonticelloLive starting today. (Though we encourage you to continue commenting on articles, you only get to have one of your own comments count once.) You can also comment on older entries on ML.

Refer someone else to MonticelloLive and tell them to comment on an article for you, mentioning your name.
About the comments… they must be a legitimate comment - not the "Hey, I want the free iPod!" kind but more like, "Joe Snodgrass referred me to ML, and I think the new restaurant will be a great addition to Monticello," or "My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the county fair again this year but were a little nervous about walking by the dunking booth guy. Winston Churchill sent me here."

So… comment away! We’ll keep a tally here on who has the most comments in which their name is mentioned (including your own comment.) You’ll receive one entry in the drawing for your comment and for each one you receive. The winner will be announced on MonticelloLive November 1.

Update (10/18): To date we’ve had fantastic response to MonticelloLive, and the comment just keep coming. So keep those comments coming, for your own benefit! There have been 84 folks entered in the drawing so far, and one of those folks will have six entries due to referral comments. Encourage your friends who haven’t been to ML to comment and mention your name!

I got this website from Kelli Montgomery and I really enjoyed reading the news, especially the article on Mr. Carpenter. I have often wondered about his story and pray for him every time I see him that he will be safe. Thanks for a great & informative website about our lovely town.

I was told about the site by Steve Davis. I think that giving away an i-Pod is a great idea. I also think that a monthly give-away like this would be great PR for the site. What better to way to encourage people to actually get involved and post serious comments? I particularly enjoyed reading the comments about the community center and John Carpenter. Good work, Jeff! A huge thank you and pat on the back to whoever came up with this idea. I was raised in Monticello but moved away after graduating in ‘85. I really enjoy keeping up with the happenings from back home and this will be the perfect way. Thanks to my sister Kristi Moseley for letting me know about this!!!

This is a wonderful idea. Not only does it inform the community of interesting news and ideas, but it is a terrrific view of our city to those from other cities.

Brother Jeff, I feel that the more exposure you get to this site, the more advertising will come, and we(Citizens) will be better for it. I like to see realtime news daily just like Fox, Cnn, etc. instead of waiting for a paper on Wednesday. Depending on how aggresive we want you to be, this paper will take off.

I heard about Monticello Live from Mary Kay Norris and I read it all the time. It has the best information and is so interesting. I feel like I know everything that is going on in Monticello! My favorite is the “One Monticello Life.” It’s amazing how much we still don’t know about each other.
