The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team suffered a three-game sweep to the Lady Tigers of West Alabama on Thursday. Final game scores were 23-25, 15-25, 18-25.

The match was the first of a seven-game road trip for the Blossoms. The team plays in the Montevallo Classic this weekend. Next weekend, the team travels to the Harding Invitational in Searcy, Ark.

In the West Alabama match, the Blossoms (4-2) were led by senior Taura Rush (5-11, OH, Joseph City, Ariz.) who finished the match with seven kills. Junior Nicole Ferguson (5-10, RS, Brentwood, Tenn.) followed closely behind with five kills.

Despite being swept, the Blossoms out-hit the Lady Tigers in the first game with a final .178 hitting percentage to UWA’s .175.

West Alabama was led by Allison Nail, who finished with a match-high 11 kills.

UAM opens play in the Montevallo Classic on Friday with a 5 p.m. match against Stillman College. On Saturday, the team plays Montevallo at 11 a.m. and concludes play in the classic with a 3 p.m. match against Fort Valley State.
