The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team broke its own single-match record for service aces in a game with 18 in a 3-0 win over Belhaven College in the final match of the first 2008 UAM Volleyball Classic.Final game scores were 25-13, 25-10 and 25-10.

The previous school record was 16, set in 2006 in a 3-1 win over Texas-Permian Basin.

Sophomore Keri Gilbert (San Marcos, Texas) led the category with six, which included three straight.

The final match hitting percentage for the team turned out to be a season high of .400, after a total of 35 kills on 70 attempts with only seven errors.

Junior Mallory Storm (Collinsville, Ill.) led the way with six, while senior Taura Rush (Joseph City, Ariz.) followed closely with five.

The Blossoms finished the 2008 UAM Classic with a tournament record of 2-1 after the win over Belhaven and a two-match split with Puerto Rico-Mayaguez.

The Blossoms (10-5) stay at home for a non-conference match up with Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Tuesday, September 23 starting at 7 p.m. The team begins Gulf South Conference action the following Thursday at Henderson State for a 7 p.m. contest.
