I live in the county we have three dogs on our property that are very gentle dogs but if you are not supposed to be on our property and the dog knows this they may bite we have taken measures to make sure that they are very gentle dogs there should not be a restriction on trying to protect our property when people come on our property with the intent to steal something
How about we teach people how to train thier dogs as a community? Also, teach them about the heartworm problem that is rampant in the south that cause behavior issues in dogs because the pain they are in. If you ban certain breeds of dogs that is not going to solve the issue. Irresponsible owners that don’t take the initiative to train and care of thier dogs are the problem here and those that train them to fight is an issue too. I know people who rehabilitate “vicious dogs” and they become great family pets. This is possibly going to add to the shelter capacity and possibly kill dogs that don’t deserve it.
First need a mic at the desk to hear what is said. Second who will determine what is a vicious dog. I have a Rottweiler who loves kids and women men not so much. He is part of my family he will defend his property and truck but when in public he greets . So who is this outside influence to pass this ordnance?
This ordinance is way over due. Just because the county has no lease law does not mean you are not responsible for your dog and their actions.
Any dog can be dangerous. This is breed specific legislation at its worst. It’s attaching nonsense to ignorance and allowing some agency to pick and choose what dogs people can own? What are the requirements for for a dog to be considered in violation? If you come onto my property and get bit then the fault lies on you. I would never submit my dog for any testing nor will anyone come on my property and try to test them. I leave my digs alone with my children. They pass my test. If they didn’t I wouldn’t have them here. Use taxpayer monies to build drug rehabilitation facility. That’s something we have an issue with.
