Traffic Stop Results in Monticello Man’s 3rd Drug Arrest in 6 Months

April 21st, 2010 by

On April 14th, Sheriff Mark Gober received information that an occupant of a vehicle that was travelling on HWY 278 East near Monticello had possession of a controlled substance. The Sheriff was able to pull the vehicle over at the Economy Inn. During a search of the vehicle and the occupant, approximately 1/4 of an ounce of what is believed to be crack cocaine was discovered.

According to Sheriff Gober, Michael Thomas, age 36 of Monticello, was arrested at the scene and booked into the Drew County Detention Facility on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver. Thomas received a bond of $50,000 on April 14th; however, he received a bond reduction on April 16th of $15,000. Thomas bonded on the 16th.

This is the third time within six months that the Drew County Sheriff’s Department has arrested Thomas in possession of a controlled substance.

  1. Grizzly says:

Keep up the good work Sheriff, I’m pulling for ya.

  2. Ladybugg says:

When can you say enough is enough. Lock him up and throw away the key.

  3. Tom says:

I wish people would kno more about da arrest before they commented….they found da drugs on da side of the rode not in his possession….and he will beat da case…and b free

  4. Spell check says:

    Undoubtedly spelling is over rated

  5. justaguess says:

I guess the other three times he was caught with drugs they were also “on da side of the rode”

  6. Ladybugg says:

The story says that during the search of the vehicle and the occupant the drugs were discovered. I didn’t see anything about the side of the road. That might be were he dropped them but that’s not were the story is saying they were found.

  7. joseph says:

yea they found it on side of rode after he threw it out.

  8. CCstands-up says:

Tom seems to know a great deal about “da arrest”. I’m sure he has experience in these mattters. The problem is too many pieces of human refuse “beat da case” because our court system is no longer based on right or wrong. Our law enforcement officers can work their butts off day and night dealing with dope dealing scum and they are are given absurdly small bonds. The officers are then derided at every turn by bleeding heart morons. What else is new.

  9. No guts no glory says:

This IS his brain on drugs…..Yea right;found it on the side of the road. Uh huh, Just how stupid do you think our law enforcement officers are? I hope he secures you for his councel. You seem to be heads above everyone else. Three times ! I guess it was on the side of the road then too. Not everyone is THAT stupid. Read Dis a just “B”

  10. Concerned Resident says:

    3 strikes and your out!

  11. someguy says:

3 strikes don’t mean your out anymore i think. 3 times in 6 mths ? Come on, $50k bond reduced too $15k in 2 days!!!…He thinks he’s invisible and can get away with it, That’s why he has gotten 3 charges in 6 mths!!!. Slap on “da” wrist..he’s probably out doing the same thing now because he hasn’t had the chance to sit in jail and think about it!!!..good job for law officers getting a “crackhead/crackdealer” off “da” streets for 2 days!!!. Shame on whoever let this man out!!!…I would think 3 times in 6 mths if I were the judge in this case he would sit in jail till court!!..and I’d make his court date a year from now!!!.. That’s just my opinion and I think it is a good one no matter what anyone thinks. He will probably check himself into rehab for 30 days, then go to court saying he’s clean,etc.., then get probation!!!….SOMEBODY NEEDS TO WAKE UP!!!!!….

  12. Corn chip says:

It does not matter if they were found on the side of the road,as long as they are tied back to him in the eyes of the law he is still da fool that put da stuff on da side of da road.He had it and he is gona get it, and it will be well desirved. No matter how many times he was caught with it.

  13. BKG says:

Some people never learn; its so sad what drugs do to people.

  14. doc says:

The third times a charm, if this person does bodily harm to someone on the street the justices that keep giving him bond should also be held responsible. The police can only bring them in. The court system and overcrowded jails are the reason they keep getting out to do it again.

Their own stupidity is the reason they keep doing the crimes.

  15. trottergirl says:

If it was on the street, who says it was his….

  16. someguy says:

    Dah… The judge !!!

  17. Dragonheart says:

I agree with Doc, third times a charm:)

  18. linda r. funderburg says:

    why reduce the bond??

  19. Shelby says:

If these thugs would spend as much time trying to get a education or a job as they do trying to get around the law maybe they could amount to something!!!

  20. J. Wheeler says:

“B” Dat as it may the ONLY explaination for this is ….. What is left of his brains are on drugs! Lock him up once and for all. You Just can’t fix stupid.
