The Student Nurses Association of the University of Arkansas at Monticello was honored for two fund-raising projects at the Arkansas Nursing Students Association meeting held recently in Rogers.

UAM nursing students received first place in the Image of Nursing competition for a fund-raising project titled “Nursing: No Boundaries.”  The project helped raise $500 to support the medical needs of children suffering from HIV/AIDS at the New Hope mission in Uganda, Africa.
UAM also took first place in community service for providing $1,000 to Kids First in Warren, which provides care and support for children with special needs in southeast Arkansas. Kids First also serves as a clinical facility for UAM nursing students.
“These awards display the commitment of our nursing students to the health and welfare of children on local, state, national and international levels,” said Pam Gouner, interim chair of the Division of Nursing.
