UAM Student Dies in Truck Wreck Near Midway Route Thursday

September 26th, 2008 by

Justin Arnold, age 19 of Camden, died at the scene of a Thursday auto accident that occurred around 6:15 p.m., apparently from internal injuries he received during the wreck.

Arnold was a passenger in a pick-up being driven by Richard Rudolph, age 20, of Drew County.  The truck was traveling toward Midway Route, on Old Troy Road, in the area of Firing Range Road, when it crossed the roadway, traveled down an embankment, and struck a “metal carport” break area, where four Price Industries
employees were taking a break.

The employees saw the truck coming at them, and ran, but Randy King, age 28, was not able to clear the scene before the impact.  King struck by the vehicle and thrown around 30 feet, as the vehicle drove through the covered area, destroying the structure.

King was transported to Drew Memorial, and then transferred to Little Rock, because of an open head wound, among other injuries.

Arnold is the second UAM student to be killed in an auto accident this week, following the death of Dustin Ferguson on Monday.

My heart is breaking for the youth of Monticello. This has been a horrible week for this town and all that were involved. In a town this size it seems everyone is affected somhow. I hope that all of you hold on to each pther and your faith. Please Remember all of your good times and help each other in a time like this. I pray that each of you finds strength in one another and in your memories. God bless each of you and Justin’s family.

this is so….sad. arnold is going to be missed greatly. im am so sorry for the loss. too many things happen in just a few seconds, we need to come together and pick each other up. it’s going to take everyone to make it through this hard time. i am praying for all those that have been effected from the accident. we need to live life to the fullest because we never know if we will have tomorrow.

  7. Momma Kirby says:

I dont know anyone involve in this accident but after this past week and the loss that has been felt by so many I feel its only right to ask everyone to pray for all those involved in this. Times are getting bleak ppl and we need to all take the time to ask ourselves if this happened to us today. ARE YOU READY? You know what I mean. No ones ready to be injured or killed so thats not the point. God bless you all.

  8. KK says:

As a parent of a child who grew up with Justin, I can not tell you the heartache this has caused. I know most teens think that it won’t happen to them, but we just never know. Justin had his whole life ahead of him, and now he is playing baseball in heaven…that is the only way I can think about it. He was a good young man. He was special to everyone who knew and loved him. Not only has the lives of the Arnold family been torn to shreds, but others as well.

  9. D.J says:

I can’t believe this, our town has been through so much. I just pray that God will put His hands over everyone as they travel. I pray for all the students and their families, i pray that we can all come together to over come this. Maybe God is telling us something that we need to listen up a little bit more. God bless you and your families

  10. dean says:

This has indeed been a terrible, tragic week in Drew County and in Bradley County as well. All we can do is know that these are, or will become “Romans 8:28 moments”… bad things that have happened, God will use them for good.

That’s difficult for the families and the close friends to come to terms with right now, but we have to trust God and not lean on our own understanding. Tomorrow my wife and I travel from Monroe to Warren for the funeral of a 14 year old girl that was very dear to us. These are events that we wish no one would have to even be making plans for, but we know we are fallen people living in a fallen world, and senseless tragedies are always going to be with us, unfortunately. Our prayers go out to all the families affected by the events of the past week.

  11. debbie says:

Alot has happened this week and I think that God is trying to tell the youth of Monticello that they need to get their lifes right and start living for the lord and stop living worldly. I pray that a youth revival will break out over Monticello and we will see lives saved. I know there has been some saved from Rooster death even at his funeral. Wake Up youth And Listen To The Lord. If The Lord Comes Back Today Will You Be Ready?

  12. WSG says:

This is so horrible… I never in a million years would have dreamed that this would happen. Justin was a great guy, one of the nicest people you would ever meet. My heart goes out to his family and to Tresa and their unborn son. May God be with you and guide you through this tough time. You are all in my prayers.

  13. keeli's mom says:

I am so sorry to all the familys that have delt with loss ths week. You all are in my prayers. We need to pray for all the youth and young people in Monticello. This week has been a trying one. So many young people have been effected by all the loss. My prayer is that if you are not right with God, if you are not saved you will pray right now, and ask God to come into your life. You can see that life can be taken away like that, with no warning. Where do you want to spend your “Second Life”?

Let’s all pray for all the familys involved this week, Don’t forget the family in Warren that lost their daughter, or the one at Childrens. Feep praying for the Fergusons, also. Ask God to protect our children, and comfort and our city.

    Suz
