UAM Report From MEDC Meeting

UAM Chancellor Jack Lassiter presented the monthly report about activities at UAM to the MEDC last week.

Highlights of his report are listed below.

The area crisis response plan is being modified to include the University’s housing and foodservice as support resources.

The enrollment process is in progress at the time of the report.  Enrollment is above the 3,100 mark.  Vice chancellor David Ray added that enrollment was around 3,000 at this time last year.

Construction and re-modeling projects under way include Wells Hall, built in 1913, and Sorrells Hall, built in 1915.  Ideal Construction of Crossett is the contractor.  The expense of these projects is near the $3.6 million mark.  Plans are to complete these projects by fall.

A $2.8 million indoor practice facility effort is also under.

Another construction project is the $300,000 stadium improvement project.  This will include chair-back seating and improved press-box.

In closing, Dr. Lassiter told that group that Governor Beebe will is planning to be at UAM on February 4, to make his commitment of at least $2,000,000 to the Forestry Resources Project.
