tobacco-grant.jpgThe University of Arkansas at Monticello was presented with a check for $66,515 from the Drew County Hometown Health Improvement (Drew HHI) Coalition to fund programs to improve the health of Drew County residents. UAM and the Drew HHI have formed a partnership to carry out local tobacco prevention and education programs in order to reduce the use of tobacco products.

The grant was funded by the Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Branch of the Center for Health Advancement, a division of the Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services. The grant will be used to fund programs to decrease exposure to second-hand smoke, decrease the advertising and promotion of tobacco products, and promote campaigns to encourage youth and adults to quit smoking.
