Dan and Charlotte Hornaday of Little Rock recently presented their seventh endowed scholarship to the University of Arkansas at Monticello Foundation Fund.
The retired Exxon executives have established an endowed scholarship for students in UAM’s Division of Computer Information Systems. The gift, which includes a match from the ExxonMobil Foundation, totals $30,000.
“Dan and Charlotte Hornaday are very special people who have chosen to create a lasting legacy at this institution,” said UAM Chancellor Jack Lassiter. “Their generosity and continuing support of UAM are extremely gratifying.”
The Hornadays established their first endowed scholarship in 1992. They have created endowed scholarships in debate, agriculture, music, and residence life as well as a general scholarship and a scholarship in honor of Mrs. Hornaday’s parents, the late Van and Eula Mae Cruce.
Dan Hornaday graduated from UAM (then Arkansas A&M College) in 1951. Charlotte Hornaday received her degree in 1952.
“The Hornadays both came from humble beginnings, they both worked hard to build successful careers and lives, but they’ve never forgotten where they came from,” said Lassiter. “Their legacy of creating educational opportunities will extend far beyond our lifetimes.”
