Arkansas teachers licensed to teach pre-school through fourth grade or grades 7-12 may add an endorsement to teach grades 5-6 thanks to a new program at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
The UAM School of Education is now offering a program for teachers who wish to add the 5th and 6th grade endorsement to their current Arkansas licensure.
“This is a good way to give teachers more employment options as well as provide a larger pool of teachers for all grades,” said Dr. Peggy Doss, dean of the UAM School of Education.
Teachers interested in the program must complete nine hours of course work at UAM before submitting an official transcript and PRAXIS II Middle Level Content Knowledge score to the Arkansas Department of Education.
