UAM nurses place first in competition; free chamber music concert coming
Published by Jeff October 31st, 2006 in News, Schools.From the UAM News Desk - The Student Nurse Association of the University of Arkansas at Monticello won first place in the Community Health Award competition at the annual Arkansas Nursing Student Association meeting October 11-13 in Hot Springs.
The award was presented for a project that raised $1,000 for Kids First of Warren, a pediatric day health program associated with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and operated at 11 clinics in Arkansas.
"I want to congratulate our students and their faculty advisor, Mrs. Pam Gouner, for their work on this worthwhile project," said Dr. Larry Eustace, chair of the UAM Division of Nursing. "The Division of Nursing faculty is very proud of the community involvement of our students and the award they earned from the Arkansas Nursing Students’ Association."
Chamber concert coming…
University of Arkansas at Monticello faculty and students will present a free chamber music concert November 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Harris Recital Hall of the UAM Music Building.
The recital will feature UAM faculty members Juan Serna, violin, Stephen Trana, clarinet, and Linda Webster, piano. Joining them are student clarinet quartet members Quartisha Johnson, Kelly Martin, Kelli Stevens, and Vanessa Waite.
The program features the Suite from Voyageur sans bagages, Op. 157b by Darius Milhaud for violin, clarinet, and piano; as well as works for that combination by Grieg, Farkas, Bonfá, Ginastera, and DvoĆák. The clarinet quartet will perform Charles Gounod’s Funeral March of a Marionette along with works by J.S. Bach and Scott Joplin.
