The Career Pathways Initiative Program at the UAM College of Technology – McGehee recently held a luncheon to honor students as they were awarded employability certificates from their participation in the program.
Career Pathways is a program designed to assist students obtain skills necessary for employment. The certificate includes 12 hours of job readiness training, creation of a resume, and demonstration of competency in keyboarding and computer literacy.
Since July 1, 2007, students at the McGehee campus have attained 112 certificates and degrees, the highest number of any Career Pathways Initiative programs at 25 sites.
Kyla Pirani, Arkansas Career Pathways Initiative’s state employability certification coordinator, was the guest speaker for the event. Pirani praised the McGehee program’s staff and students for “making this program a model for achieving high goals and student success in many areas.”
