The University of Arkansas at Monticello athletics department has been recognized by the NCAA as one of the top programs in Division II for its commitment to diversity in athletics.

UAM participated in a survey that was conducted independently by the Laboratory for Diversity in Sport at Texas A&M University, which was supported by the NCAA.

The survey was used to assess the 2007-08 Diversity in Athletics Award Winners from Division II in various categories.

The survey highlighted UAM’s most productive area of diversity in the category of graduation of African-America female student-athletes.

“I think this really shows that, regardless of race, ethnicity or gender, all of our student-athletes here at UAM have the best possible chance of succeeding in the classroom,” said UAM athletic director Alvy Early. “I am very proud of our athletics department for its hard work in this area.”
