According to Tenth Judicial District Drug Task Force Lt. Jason Akers, recent drug cases have led to prison sentences for the offenders. Jerry Vincent, age 27, of Monticello was sentenced to 15 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections after a jury found him guilty of delivery of crack cocaine. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Frank Spain handled the case.

In a separate jury trial a Pine Bluff woman identified as Belinda Jean Bishop, age 45, was found guilty by a Drew County jury on the offense of possession of drug paraphernalia with the intent to manufacture. The the jury sentenced Bishop to a term of (6) years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections, of which Bishop must serve 70%.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Zach Vaughn prosecuted the Bishop trial.

‘We are very please with the outcomes of the trials and the performance of the Deputy Prosecutors. They did an outstanding job and we hope this sends a message to those involved in drug trafficking in Drew County that the citizens wont tolerate it’.
