University of Arkansas at Monticello Cotton Blossoms slugger Becca Tipton (Fr., Monticello, Ark.) has been named Gulf South Conference-West Division Player of the Week for the week ending February 19.

Tipton has been unstoppable at the plate this season, having raised her season batting average to .436 after batting .615 this past week, going 8-for-13 with nine RBI while scoring five runs. Seven of her eight hits on the week went for extra bases, with three doubles and four home runs. In the final game of the week against Arkansas Tech, the freshman went 3-for-4 with two homers and five RBI. Tipton leads the team with seven home runs, two away from the school’s freshman record.

“Becca has had an outstanding season thus far and has been hitting the ball and playing exceptionally well,” said Blossoms head coach Alvy Early. “I hope she will be able to keep it up as we start conference play.”
