SUPPORT OUR TROOPS Rally, Tonight, First Assembly of God, 5:30
Published by Joe Burgess January 2nd, 2008 in Military.Tonight’s the night to show your support for our troops, especially the local National Gaurd 39th Support Battalion, as they prepare to travel to Ft. Shelby, Mississippi, before being deployed to Iraq for a year.
Monticello’s community and business leaders joined together to plan a community-wide rally to show our support for them, including a fish-fry for the Guardsmen, where dozens of local volunteers will serve the meal to the soldiers and their families.
The event is set to begin at the First Assembly of God Church on HWY 425 North, tonight, at 5:30.
The meal will be provided for the troops, as Monticello citizens are asked to bring signs and banners showing suport for our soldiers, and to bring flags to wave as the National Guard members enter the area around the Assembly of God Church.
The event is being jointly sponsored by many of our local churches and business and political leaders.
Make plans now to come on out and line the driveway and highway with a show of support that our local troops will remember and be proud of, while they’re serving our country in Iraq.
