Gaines and McCloy, as well as a short section of Hyatt Streets, have been under construction this week as part of the Arkansas Dept. of Highways & Transportation’s overlay of HWY 278.

The removal of the current pavement is being done by Johnsville, L.L.C., and is being done usually from 6 p.m. until around 6 a.m., to avoid interfering with the roadway’s heavy traffic flow.

The paving process will likely begin Thursday morning, by Courson Paving.

Monticello street crews were out early Wednesday morning, repairing a valve, 3-4 foot below ground, at the intersection of Hyatt and Gaines streets.

The work was being done in preparation for the upcoming state overlay program that is being planned for later this year, and also in order to not hinder traffic while school traffic begins next Monday

I am so glad those roads are being re-surfaced. My little car doesn’t handle pot holes very well. I will be glad when it is finished though because it has been difficult getting to work and back home every day with the road work going on.
