State HWY Commission Plans Work On I-530
Published by News Release March 8th, 2008 in State.The Arkansas State Highway Commission has opened bids for a roadway in Jefferson, Lincoln and Cleveland Counties, according to Commissioner R. Madison Murphy of El Dorado.
The project will construct the grading and structures for approximately ten miles of the extension of Interstate 530. The contract was awarded to T.J. Lambrecht Construction, Inc. of Joliet, Illinois, for $11,877,511.
“This project will be one of numerous projects that will extend Interstate 530 southward beyond Pine Bluff and serve as the new four lane connector between Pine Bluff and Monticello,” Murphy stated. “The work on this project will begin at Steep Bank Creek in Jefferson County, extend southward through Cleveland County, and continue into Lincoln County to Highway 212. An interchange at Interstate 530 in Pine Bluff is already under construction as is a section of the new highway just west of Star City,” Murphy added.
Once the grading and structures are completed on this project, a paving job will be scheduled to complete the section.
Murphy said work could begin on the project in six to eight weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in early 2010.
