The Arkansas State Highway Commission has opened bids for improvements to a roadway in Drew County, according to Commissioner R. Madison Murphy of El Dorado.
The purpose of the project is to resurface approximately five miles of Highway 425 in Drew and Lincoln counties.  The contract was awarded to R.M. Courson, Inc. of Hamburg, Arkansas, for $900,767.46.
“This project will resurface a five-mile section of Highway 425 that begins in northern Drew County and continues into Lincoln County,” stated Murphy.
The project is being funded with money provided by Governor Beebe and the Legislature from the state’s General Revenue surplus.
Murphy said work could begin on the project in six to eight weeks, weather permitting.  Completion is expected in late 2008.
